Filip Custic (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 1993) is a Spanish-Croatian multidisciplinary artist that lives and works in Madrid, whose artistic practice combines photography, performance, sculpture and video-art. Currently his work explores the significance to be human in our present and immediate future, as with the impact of digital technology on our conscience and sense of identity. To this end, Custic utilises within his works different kinds of objects and particularly, hyper-realistic human figures, as vehicles of communication, making it difficult to distinguish human meditations from non-human. Likewise, Custic conceives his photographs, as if they are ‘virtual paintings’; digital canvases embodied by a strong pictorial component in which both analogue and digital skills are intertwined.
Amongst his most recent individual exhibitions and collections, are Mirror Maze, a performance for Absolut Manifesto 19 – We Are A New World, Madrid; THE SEARCH FOR (MODERN) PLEASURE, MIRA Festival, Barcelona; Les Rencontres d’Arles (2018); PHotoEspaña 2018, Madrid; The Gathering. La Noche Warhol, Caixa Forum Madrid (2018); Objetismo Materializado – The Gathering, Caixa Forum Barcelona (2017); Patafísica: Suspensión, Fragmentación, James Fuentes Gallery,New York (2017); Mueble sexual, Soho House Barcelona (2017); Pink. A Rosé Exhibition, Colette, París (2016); surrealismo, abstracción 1, IKB 191, Madrid (2016).
